Each or almost every one of us has faced discrimination at some point in our life – should it have been for political, social and/or personal, and/or other reasons. Ableism is a form of discrimination that relates to hostility to disabled people – a widespread social phenomenon in our society.
In two days of the workshop, we discussed the issue of ableism and the term “being (becoming) disabled”. In a small group, we exchanged our own experiences, asked questions, searched for answers and possible solutions. What else can we do personally as well as socially concerning to art and culture to avoid ableism and to enable people with visible and invisible disabilities to live comfortably, self-determined and respectfully in this society?
The workshop was organized by the PSR collective and took place under the direction of Edwin Greve and Senami Zodehougan from i-paed (www.i-paed-berlin.de)
