Ida is about 35 years old. She has been mentally handicapped since childhood. She has a mild intellectual disability, her cognitive abilities are impaired and she suffers from social adjustment disorder. Ida lives in Berlin and is cared for by the social psychologist Mrs. Arlova. The young woman works as an advertising currier and dog sitter. She avoids speaking German and converses with her fellow human beings in English.
She is lonely and lives in her own world: talks to herself, dances and sings in the streets and invents friends from different objects. She loves animals and nature, is kind-hearted, childlike, artistically gifted, imaginative, romantic and believes in God and love.
