Singing gives strength, unites and solaces….
From March to May 2022 I organized an open singing for peace in the Ukraine and all over the world. It took place every Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. in front of the Russian Embassy. In a meditative mood we sang the Ukrainian folk song “Zelenaya Vyšnja” and the Ukrainian anthem.
Repeating the song created a meditative mood and the song became a shared prayer.
In my opinion, the war in Ukraine is a world tragedy that affects all of us. Thats why expressing my political opinion is very important for me. The weekly meeting and singing in front of the Russian embassy was like an “outlet” and a personal protest. Pleasent encounters and exciting discourses found place. The open singing emotionally touched and brought together not only the Ukrainians, but also people from all over the world.
In my homeland Latvia, I grew up with the people from the Ukraine and their culture and mentality is familiar to me. That’s why privately I try to help the Ukrainian refugees voluntarily and offer support as well as my Russian language skills.
